How to apply a skim coat over, stucco, cinder block, brick, or plaster

How to skim coat. Howdy guys and gals, in this short video I show an example of a skim coat. We can apply skim coats over retaining walls, block walls, concrete, stucco or brick. A skim coat is a thinner coat than the traditional two coat system. It’s usually about 1/4 inch to 3/8 of an inch thick for exteriors. Typical exterior stucco systems are finishes are 7/8 thick. Thanks you guys for watching, we’ll see you on the next one! Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. 510 521-9546 www.stuccoplastering.com http www.bayareaplastering.com http

Hey Kirk, Yes! I used a hawk and trowel to apply the plaster, and then when it set up I used the green sponge float. I have thousands upon thousands of hours using this type of float, so it won’t be easy if you are a beginner. You have to know when to use it how much water with the same attention to the plaster on the wall. I have don’t it so much I can improvise all of the following details.
Good luck with the tips.

Kirk, did you match the existing texture using only your sponge float?
